Childhood Sexual Abuse Recovery Group

This Childhood Sexual Abuse Recovery Group (CSA Group) is intended for people who identify as women or non-binary and who experienced sexual abuse before age 18.

This CSA Groups offers an opportunity to meet with other survivors of CSA to reduce isolation and overcome the effects of complex trauma, according to a biopsychosocial perspective.

Participants do not have to talk about the details of the abuse.

Why Attend a Childhood Sexual Abuse Recovery Group?

Groups are a supplementary treatment to individual therapy and can help lessen the stigma of CSA. Groups can also be a place to gain a better understanding of how you relate to yourself and your world in the context of CSA as well as just generally.

Research shows that groups powerfully address the secrecy and isolation surrounding CSA by bringing survivors together, identifying common effects of abuse, and demonstrating that it is not the survivor's fault that this happened. And we’re all about helping eliminate stigmas, lowering feelings of shame, and eliminating barriers to living life to your fullest.

Believe it or not, groups are fun, and interesting. and you will likely leave sessions laughing!

You may also learn some important information from experts in the field. Although it’s not required, groups are also an avenue to support others, and get support from others with similar experiences.

What will this group focus on and what things will I learn?

This Childhood Sexual Abuse Group Content will include the following:

Psychoeducation about childhood trauma and Childhood Sexual Abuse

Overcoming the effects of Childhood Sexual Abuse

How traumatic memories are stored and working with trauma and EMDR

Exploring Practices of Power

Addressing Shame and Grief

The Social Context of Childhood Sexual Abuse

From Surviving to Thriving

How Do I Become Eligible for This CSA Group?

It is encouraged and highly recommended that each member of this CSA group be in individual therapy to help process the group content. It is also recommended that members have access to external support while the group is in process.
