Camila works with adults, with a particular interest in neurodivergence and giftedness, LGBTQIA+ identities, consensual non-monogamy, and burnout and perfectionism.
She especially enjoys working with people who are a bit out of the ordinary. People often seek her out because they recognise something of themselves in her story, or because someone has recommended her for her work with neurodivergent, queer or non-monogamous folk.
Style of Therapy
Collaborative, transparent, warm, technical and informal.
Camila provides highly individualised, evidence-based and person-centred care. She believes in a practice in which the best scientific evidence and clinical resources available are considered and put to work towards the client’s personal and cultural needs, desires and preferences.
Her work is largely grounded in contemporary, integrative cognitive behavioural therapies. She draws on Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
Her mission is to translate science into real, meaningful support for her clients, their lifestyle, relationships and choices.
Each person and issue requires careful adjustment. Camila tends to have a more active and direct therapeutic style than more traditional talk therapies. She listens carefully and asks questions every session, but also often offers psychoeducation, practical strategies and structured interventions.
She believes this approach arises partly from the level of support her clients need, and she enjoys adapting to each person’s style and needs.
How Camila Works With Each Person
Camila honours how infinitely unique and complex every person’s mind, background and life circumstances are, and how they interact to give rise to the issues brought into therapy.
In practical terms, she strives to understand how cognition, beliefs, personality, emotional patterns and life events are affecting the specific issues someone wants to work on. By sharing this with the client, and with their active collaboration and insight, they come up with highly individualised “best next steps” towards the desired change.
Camila believes no one should have to choose between effectiveness and acceptance when it comes to mental health care.
Both professional and personal experiences have taught her that too many health practitioners are unequipped either to effectively support the specific issues faced by minoritised groups or to provide a truly accepting, non-judgemental and safe environment of care.
She believes in a well-rounded biopsychosocial view of health, backed by high-quality evidence within psychology, health sciences and the wider human sciences. As a clinician, this translates into a radically affirmative practice in which she works alongside her clients, committed to strengthening their agency and autonomy.

What is therapy with Camila like?
How Can Therapy Help With Neurodiversity and Giftedness?
Being neurodivergent or gifted shapes how someone sees themselves, and how others see them, from a very young age. Each experience is unique, but many challenges are shared, and knowing what has worked for others can save wasted effort and needless suffering.
Camila’s work centres on neurodiversity and giftedness, including ADHD, autism and dyslexia. She knows both the science and the day-to-day difficulties in depth. She walks clients through strategies that can help, then works with them to weigh which ones fit and tailor them to the individual.
What Does Support for Non-Monogamous People Usually Involve?
Support for non-monogamous people usually means understanding the stressors specific to this group and building practical relationship skills. Camila offers this support through individual therapy.
Recognising that non-monogamy fits, or choosing to live openly this way, often involves a “coming out” experience where shame, guilt, curiosity, enthusiasm and pleasure coexist. Because this experience is often met with taboo and rejection, an affirmative approach is vital.
Non-monogamous relationships also tend to call for strong emotional regulation, conflict resolution and boundary-setting. Everyone benefits from these skills, but knowing how they play out in non-monogamous life makes the work more specific to the person and easier to put into practice.
When Might Someone Consider Seeking Help for Burnout or Stress?
Camila suggests considering support if stress, worry and exhaustion have come to feel normal. Common as they are in the modern world, they can take a real toll on the body, mood and health.
If someone has been neglecting sleep, nutrition, exercise, loved ones or anything else that matters to them, therapy can help them see how close to their limits they have been treading and recognise the “stop signs” their body is sending.
It can also support work-life balance, self-esteem and longer-term physical and mental health.
What Can a New Client Expect in Their First Session?
In the first session, clients introduce themselves and their reasons for seeking therapy. Camila introduces her approach and answers any questions.
Her main goal is to help the person feel welcome and safe. She also strives to understand their history with therapy, current needs and goals, and provide a likely outline for their work together where possible.
How Can Someone Know Whether Camila Might Be the Right Therapist for Them?
Camila considers the bond between client and therapist an important part of a fruitful therapeutic experience. Identifying with something about her or her style, and feeling a connection, can be an encouraging sign.
She also suggests reflecting on past experiences and approaches that have worked, and considering whether her approach meets those preferences. From there, the next step is to try working together.
Can Someone Enquire Without Knowing Where to Start?
Absolutely. The role of a psychotherapist is often figuring that out with the client. They are not supposed to figure it out all by themselves.
The right support can make the path forward much clearer and lighter.
What Would Camila Want Someone Who Is Nervous About Therapy to Know?
Camila wants people to know that therapy can take different forms: a quick class, a casual conversation, a consultation. She meets clients where they are, with no judgement.
She will not corner them, and there is no such thing as doing therapy “right”, so there is no need to worry about “messing it up”. Nervousness and specific worries about therapy can be addressed together as they come up.
Sometimes, all someone has to do is show up.
Is a Diagnosis or Clearly Defined Problem Needed?
Not at all. Camila’s job is often figuring that out together with the client during sessions.
Feeling that a well-trained eye on an issue could help, or wanting to learn something from psychology, are good enough reasons to reach out. They can take it from there.
How Often Do People Attend, and How Long Might Therapy Take?
The frequency and duration of therapy vary greatly. Camila considers the severity and complexity of the concerns, available resources and each client’s personal preferences.
As a rule of thumb, she advises weekly sessions for someone who is new to therapy or currently struggling with day-to-day life. She discusses each person’s circumstances in detail so they can come up with an arrangement that is realistic for them.
What Do People Often Find Surprising About Working With Camila?
Her clients tend to be surprised by how she can be “highly encouraging and progress oriented, without ever being rigid or ruthless”.
What Is One Misconception About Therapy Camila Would Like to Correct?
That someone needs to have “something wrong” to go to therapy.
She believes therapy is for anyone who wants psychology’s help with what matters to them, whether that is a challenge, a decision or simply a desire to grow.
Are Sessions Available in Portuguese or Online?
Camila offers sessions in English and Portuguese, both in person at Here Completely’s York Street rooms in Sydney CBD and online.
What Do Sessions Cost? Is Medicare Available?
Camila’s standard session fee is $220. Medicare rebates are not available for sessions with her.
What Camila’s About
Camila is a polyamorous, pansexual Brazilian woman, with a lifetime of neurodivergent adventures and misadventures.
She chose this work because it was the one area of knowledge in which she felt she could care for others and nerd out tirelessly.
She most enjoys seeing clients learn and improve, as well as solving the “puzzle” of figuring out the best next step for each person and circumstance. She is especially interested in working with neurodivergent folk and perfectionism.
Outside work, she feels most like herself singing along to Brazilian music and taking a deep dive into a random topic of interest for hours.
She hopes clients feel they can be themselves entirely and shamelessly, and that they can fully trust her with their care.
Camila especially enjoys working with people who are a bit out of the ordinary. People often come to her when they see a bit of themselves in her or her personal story, or because they were referred to her for her focus on neurodivergent, queer or non-monogamous folk.
